BRUR, JKKNIU students participate in women entrepreneurship programme

Students from Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) and Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University, Mymensingh (JKKNIU) have taken part in the ‘National Colloquium on Empowering Young Women: Promoting Peaceful, Cohesive & Prosperous Bangladesh’
Centre for Peace and Justice (CPJ) of BRAC University organized the event as part of the closing ceremony of the ‘Empowered Women, Peaceful Communities’ project, a joint initiative of UN Women Bangladesh and CPJ, at the BRAC Centre Inn auditorium at city’s Mohakhali.
Swedish Ambassador to Dhaka Charlotta Schlyter was the chief guest of the event with CPJ Executive Director Manzoor Hasan in the chair.
BRUR Vice Chancellor Prof Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah BRAC University Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Md Tamim, and Programme Specialist of UN Women Bangaladesh Asuka Murata, among others, were present.
At the event, participants shared their experience. A photo album titled ‘Rivers of Life’ was unveiled followed by an open discussion session between project beneficiaries and various national and international guests.
CPJ started this project of empowering young women in June of 2018 and BRUR and JKKNIU were implementing partners.
As many as 320 female students from two universities took part in a series of women entrepreneurship training to produce socially responsible business ideas to promote peace and cohesion in Bangladesh.
Two teams from BRUR and JKKNIU won seed funds to initiate their business ideas.
