The Supreme Court has dismissed an appeal against a court order which stated that Tk 5 million has to be paid to a private car driver Rasel Sarkar, who lost one of his legs when a bus belonging to Green Line Paribahan went over him on the Jatrabari flyover in Dhaka.
As a result, the previous court order of the fine remains, said lawyers.
The order was given Sunday (Mar 31) by the appeals bench led by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain.
The High Court had earlier ordered Green Line to pay Rasel Tk 5 miilion and bear all the expenses for his treatment and the placement of a prosthetic leg using latest technology.
On Apr 28, 2018, during an altercation, a driver of Green Line bus lost his temper and drove over Rasel whose leg was severed on the spot.
