The hospitals have been instructed to provide free treatment to the victims of the Banani fire, said the Directorate General of Health Services Abul Kalam Azad.
“The health minister has called me to instruct all the hospitals in Dhaka to provide free treatment to the injured,” he said on Thursday (Mar 28).
“I’ve called the hospitals and they are all prepared,” he added.
“Unless the fire is under control it can’t be said how many people are still trapped inside or what the casualties are,” he said.
Azas said that around 25 people have been admitted at the Kurmitola General Hospital and Sri Lankan national was undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
Earlier on Thursday, a massive fire broke out on the ninth floor of Banani’s multistoried FR Tower killing seven people so far.
Twenty-five firefighting units are still working to douse the flames while around 100 people trapped inside have been rescued.
