Those trapped inside Banani’s FR Tower, where a fire broke out on Thursday (Mar 28) are being rescued one by one.

Most of them have fallen ill due to the smoke and are being taken to various hospitals across the capital.

Farida Yasmin, who was on the scene said that her son Fahad Ibne Kabir used to works in the building.

She said that her son called her and told her that the smoke from the flames was suffocating him and she hadn’t been able to speak to him since then.

Meanwhile, many on the 11th floor were seen calling out for help.

Fire Service officer Mostafiz said that the rescue efforts were being delayed due to the thick smoke.

“We are having difficulties to reach those trapped inside with the crane ladder due to the extreme smoke,” he told Bangla Tribune.

Earlier on Thursday, a massive fire broke out on the 9th floor of FR Tower in the capital’s Banani.

Twenty-two firefighting units were working to douse the flames.
