Protests in Keraniganj against BIWTA move

The protesters staged the demonstration in South Keraniganj around 11am.
Keraniganj Garments and Shop Owners Association President Aziz Sheikh said that they were protesting against the BIWTA decision.
BIWTA port officer AKM Arif said that there were nine ghats from Telghat to Babubazar Bridge for boat crossing.
"BIWTA has decided to relocate the ghats to Nawabbari area to avoid accidents,” he added.
Witnesses said during the protests, there was huge pressure on Nagormahal and adjoining ghats. A boat had sunk after being hit by a patrol speedboat of the BIWTA port officer.
However, no casualty was reported.
