Gold bars weighing nearly 12 kg have been found inside an aircraft of the Biman Bangladesh Airlines on Monday (Mar 11), say officials.
Acting on a tip-off, the National Security Intelligence (NSI) conducted a search on the plane which came from Abu Dhabi, said customs officials at the Dhaka airport.
Deputy Customs Commissioner Othelo Chowdhury told Bangla Tribune that they jointly raided the aircraft with the NSI which led to the recovery.
A total of 106 gold bars, wrapped in duct tape, were concealed behind the mirror inside one of the toilets of the plane, said the official before adding no arrests were made over the haul.
