Specialists say that to stop the leaking of questions, a permanent method has to be adopted.
Senior secretary of the secondary and higher education department, Md. Sohrab Hossain, says, “We have managed to ensure temporary prevention of question paper leaks; but this is not a permanent system.”
We can move towards a permanent system once we get a report from the probe committee formed at the order of the high court.
Professor of BUET, Sohel Arman, also a member of the probe committee entrusted to investigate leaks, says, “We have submitted our report on time but the education ministry has not been given a formal report as yet.”
Despite ensuring security in printing and directly involving the law enforcers, gaps remain, he added.
Sohrab Hossain says, “In these cases, if someone decided to be unscrupulous, papers will come out.”
During investigation, it was seen that question papers can be leaked at several layers, said Sohel Arman, adding, “In the current system to prevent leak, the capability of BG Press has to be increased along with security.”
He also underlined the need to appoint a responsible person as in charge of certain sections of BG Press.
Embarrassed over leak of questions, the ministry of education formed an 11 member committee on 4 February, 2018 comprising representatives from cabinet, public administration, home ministry, police, BTRC, madrasa board etc.
Sohel Arman suggested following measures: printing of papers at the centre and printing in automatic machines.
Questions should be kept in smart boxes so if they are opened, the authority will be notified.
Recently, the authority adopted a variety of measures including special envelopes, security and selected papers half an hour before exam to stave off the scourge of leaks.
