The decision has been taken to facilitate Eid holidaymakers’ journey, Road Transport Minister Obaidul Quader said at a meeting on traffic congestion on Tuesday after visiting the construction site for a bridge on the Meghna River in Munshiganj.
CNG-filling stations remain closed from 5pm to 9pm every day as part of energy rationing. However, in Ramadan, it has been extended by another two hours to ensure household gas supply.
The Eid may be observed on Jun 16, depending on moon-sighting.
CNG-filling station will start 24-hour service four days prior and after the Eid — for a total nine days.
Quader told the meeting that all roadwork has to completed by Jun 8. “Any kind of negligence would not be tolerated.”
He called law-enforcers for their best efforts in keeping the highways free from traffic congestion during the Eid holidays.
