The government has instructed the commercial banks to not make any transaction with 17 hajj agencies.
A letter was issued on the matter by the ministry of religious affairs on Feb 6.
“A number of hajj agencies had been slapped with fines on the allegation of irregularities. As 17 of them failed to pay the fine, banks have been instructed to make no transaction with them,” said Mohammad Anwar Hossain, senior public relation officer of the ministry.
Earlier, the government took on the hajj agencies under the ‘National Haj and Omrah Policy-2018’ that included revocation their licences.
