Wrongfully accused Jute Factory worker Jahlam suffered almost three years behind bars. The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) panel, formed by the graft watchdog to probe Jahalam’s wrongful incarceration, has been instructed to file its report within 20 working days.

“The committee has been given a 20-day deadline,” ACC Commissioner Aminul Islam told the media on Tuesday (Feb 5).

Earlier on Monday (Feb 4), ACC Chairman Iqbal Mahmood announced the formation of the panel, which is led by the commission’s legal wing Director Abu Hasnat Md Abdul Wadud.

Jute mill worker Jaha Alam, who had been behind bars for three years, was released on Feb 4 following an HC order which dropped the charges wrongfully slapped to him.

He was arrested in 2016’s February instead of the real accused in connection with over two dozen cases filed by the ACC for misappropriation Tk 185 of Sonali Bank money.
