The court has deferred the indictment hearing of BNP chief Khaleda Zia and 37 others in the Jatrabari bus arson case.
The Dhaka Special Tribunal-6 Judge Mohammad Ali deferred the indictment hearing to Apr 11 on Wednesday (Jan 30).
Charges were supposed to be framed against Khaleda and 37 other on Wednesday.
However, as there was already a plea regarding the case at High Court, the defence pleaded for more time which was granted.
A petrol bomb explosion in Jatrabari’s Kather Pool area during the 2015 countrywide blockades by the BNP and its allies led to the injury of 30 bus passengers. One of the victims, Noor Alam, later died of burns.
Jatrabai police filed two cases, where Khaleda has been accused of inciting the attack.
Police pressed charges on the former prime minister and 37 others in the cases, one for the death and the other under the Explosives Act.
