A female student of Dhaka University has been mugged in broad daylight in the city.
The incident was reported in front of the police box at the city’s Paltan intersection on Thursday (Jan 24).
Victim Anamika Sarkar, a student of DU’s Music department, said she took a rickshaw ride from Motijheel to the university.
“The rickshaw got stuck in the traffic in front of the police box at around 1:35pm. All of a sudden, someone stanched my mobile phone from my hands,” she said.
“As I shouted, the mugger ran away,” she said before alleging that police were standing nearby but they ‘didn’t step in’.
A case has been filed with Shahbag police station.
