An Ansar official has been arrested while trying to bribe an Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) employee.
Ansar Commandant Ashikur Rahman was arrested on Thursday (Jan 24) from ACC’s Chattogram-2 Integrated District Offices with Tk 100,000.
“One stops being a government employee the moment they are affiliated with graft,” said Mohammad Munir Chowdhury, chief of ACC’s enforcement unit.
He added that the graft watchdog was strictly monitoring to catch any kind of bribery or graft red-handed.
ACC sources said that Ashikur who is currently at Bandarban’s 17 no battalion was involved in a tender irregularity.
He turned up at the Chattogram offices with the money and was arrested in the presence of the executive magistrate of the district administration after top officials were informed of the matter.
