The High Court repealed a stay order of the by-election on Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) dismissing the writ asking for elections to be cancelled.
Now there’s no obstacle in holding the DNCC by-elections, say lawyers.
The order was given by a joint bench of Justices Gobinda Chandra Thakur and Mohammad Ullah.
Previously, the writ was lodged by Ataur Rahman and Jahangir Alam, chairmen of two new wards, Bhatara and Beraid.
They submitted the writ since demarcation of new wards was not finalized.
