The British police is yet to find out the culprit who threw acid on a Bangladeshi-British woman in Birmingham even after one month of the incident.
On April 8, when Afia Begum, 26, was returning to her home from a petrol pump, the attacker grabbed her at her apartment’s lobby and hurled acid on her, according to a British news portal.
She was driven to hospital by one of her friends as she sustained severe burn injuries in her face, neck and eye.
The police have arrested a 14-year school-boy as a suspect in this connection.
A spokesman of the West Midland Police said that the investigation was underway and they made a request to the eye-witness to give them information.
Describing the incident, Afia Begum said, “He got off from a black car while I was crossing the road to my home. I couldn’t imagine he would attack me.”
He ran away with her mobile phone while Afia was screaming.
The aggrieved Afia alleged that the police went to her home instead of meeting her at the hospital.
“When I went back to my house after one week, I found that some important and valuable assets including television, ornaments, bank cards had been stolen as police left my apartment’s door open when I was at the hospital,” she claimed.
