Hundreds of garment workers have blocked the capital’s Uttara road, one of the thoroughfares to and from Dhaka, demanding arrears.
The workers of 5-6 garment factories took to the streets around 8:30am on Sunday in the Azampur area, Uttara model police OC Nure Alam Siddiquee told Bangla Tribune.
They then blocked the vehicular movement prompting heavy traffic congestion on both sides of the road, stretching from the city’s Banani to Gazipur’s Tongi.
“Talks with the factory owners are underway on the matter while leaders of the apparel trading bodies have been informed of the situations,” said Siddiquee.
