Bangla Tribune, in addition to publishing news in Bangla, is new offering its contents in English.
The service was launched on Sunday, when the online newspaper celebrated its fourth anniversary.
“For the last four years, day in day out, we are trying to publish accurate news and promote freedom of speech. I am glad to announce that from today we will also offer news content in English, which will help Bangla tribune to reach more readers home and abroad,” said Editor Zulfiqer Russell.
Bangla Tribune Head of News Harun ur Rashid said, “We have to understand that there are a good number of readers who are comfortable with English language. We have to think globally but act locally and within our capacity. We have launched the service to cater to the need of English readers.”
Special Correspondent Sheikh Shahariar Zaman, the coordinator for English version, says they are not aiming for a mirror of the Bangla version. “The English services will aim to cater the need of a global audience.”
