Assistant Professor Hasina Begum has been appointed as the acting principal of Viqarunnisa Noon School and College after principal Nazneen Ferdous was ousted in the aftermath of 15-year-old Aritree Adhikari’s suicide.
Viqarunnissa authorities also named Mohsin Talukder as the new morning shift in-charge of its Bailey Road branch, Chairman of the institutes governing body Golam Ashraf Talukder told Bangla Tribune on Friday (Dec 7).
Earlier on Friday, another group of students staged a protest in front of the school premises demanding release of sacked teacher Hasna Hena who has been held on charges of instigating Aritree to commit suicide.
Sacked principal Nazneen Ferdous and morning shift in-charge Zinnat Akhtar are also named in a case filey by Aritry’s father Dilip Adhikary.
Widespread protest erupted outside the school’s main campus on Dhaka’s Bailey Road since Tuesday (Dec 4) morning over Aritree’s suicide.
On Monday (Dec 3), the body of Aritree Adhikari was found hanging from the ceiling fan of her room locked from inside.
