Elias Hossain of SA TV and Kabir Ahmed Khan of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) have been elected president and general secretary of Dhaka Reporters’ Unity (DRU) respectively for the next one year on Friday (Nov 30).
Elias secured 641 votes beating his nearest contestant Monir Hossain Liton of Ekattor TV who got 496 votes while Kabir bagged 450 votes defeating his nearest contender Reaz Chowdhury of Asian Mail who secured 440 votes, reports BSS.
Other elected office bearers are vice-president Khandoker Kawser Hossain, joint secretary Jamiul Ahman Shipu , finance secretary Ziaul Haque Sabuj, organizing secretary Afjal Bari, office secretary Zehad Hossain Chowdhury, women affairs secretary Sajida Islam Parul, publicity and publications secretary Sheikh Mahmud-E-Riyat, training and research secretary Abdul Hai Tuhin, sports secretary Shafiqul Islam Shamim, cultural secretary Md. Emdadul Haque Khan, entertainment secretary H M Akhter and welfare secretary Kawsar Azam.
Executive members are Mohiuddin, Khalid Saifullah, Badol Nur, Mohammad Maksudul Hasan, Mohammad Naimuddin, Rashedul Haque and Md. Shahabuddin Mahtab.
Some 1148, among 1477, voters cast their votes in the election held at the DRU office.
