Justice Muhammad Imman Ali will serve as acting chief justice in absence of Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain.

As the most senior Appellate Division judge, Justice Ali will perform the duties of the top judge until Nov 27 or until the Cheif Justice Hossain assumes his duties upon returning back from abroad, says a law ministry circular issued on Saturday (Nov 24).

The law ministry issued a circular on Saturday (Nov 24), said special officer at the Supreme Court Barrister Md Saifur Rahman.

‘Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain will fly for India on Sunday (Nov 25) to attend an event marking the country’s Constitution Day,” said Supreme Court’s Special Officer Md Saifur Rahman.

India observes Constitution Day on Nov 26 every year.
