Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has detained a BNP nomination aspirant for alleged possession of 110 bottles of phensedyl.
RAB picked up Moiunuddin from his residence in Chuadanga on Wednesday (Nov 21).
“We found him in possession of 110 bottles of phensedyl and materials to produce 220 bottles of the banned substance,” RAB-6 (Jhenaidah) Camp Commander Masud Alam told Bangla Tribune.
On the other hand Moinuddin wife, Tania Khatun claims that her husband hadn’t been home for the last three months and came home on Wednesday.
“They said that they will file a case against my husband,” she told Bangla Tribune.
Denying her claims, Masud said, “His political affiliation had nothing to do with it. We found narcotics in his possession which his wife is fully aware of.”
BNP sources have confirmed that Moinuddin is the chairman of Jibannagar Upazila’s Shimanto Union.
He collected a nomination form from BNP and had also come to Dhaka for the interview.
On Wednesday (Nov 21), a BNP delegation submitted a list of the arrested nomination seekers of the party to the Election Commission (EC).
