After the bail order of photographer Shahidul Alam, currently in prison over an ICT case, was discarded by one high court bench, a bail appeal was made to another bench.
On Tuesday (Nov 6), Alam’s lawyers, barrister Jyotirmoy Barua placed the appeal.
On Nov 1 last, a High Court bench comprising justices AKM Asaduzzaman and SM Mozibur Rahman struck out Alam’s bail appeal from High Court’s agenda.
On Oct 7, the High Court issued a rule asking why Shahidul Alam should not be granted bail. During the hearing, the court asked to see Alam’s interview to Al Jazeera given during the safe road campaign. After watching the interview, high court removed the bail appeal from the court agenda.

Shahidul Alam was arrested in a case filed under Section 57 of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Act on Aug 5 night, few hours after he had given an interview to Qatar-based television channel Al Jazeera on the student protests for road safety.
