Police have foiled a rally of the protesters, who have been demonstrating for extending age limit in government job to 35.
The incident was reported from the city’s Shabagh intersection at 2:30am on Saturday (Oct 20).
The protesters under the banner of General Students Rights Council gathered in Shabagh area as part of their pre-announced progamme around 11:30am where police barred them from holding programmes.
They then moved to the National Press Club in Segunbagicha.
As the law enforcement agencies did not allow them there, the protesters returned to Shabagh intersection at 1:30pm.
An hour later, police cleared the area cashing the demonstrators.
Convener of the Council Sanjay Das claimed police chased the ‘peaceful protesters’.
The Council, however, vowed to continue demonstration until their demands are met.
“Protest will continue until our demands are realized,” said Das.
