One more death has been reported over the gas leak fire at the capital’s Uttarkhan area.
The deceased, identified as Sufia, 50, succumbed to his burn injuries around 7.30am on Sunday at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), said SI Baccu Mia at DMCH police camp.
Earlier, on Saturday around 10.15am, Azizul, 27 and around 5pm, Moslema, 18 died in their burn injuries.
“The other five victims are in critical condition,” said DMCH Burn Unit Dr Patha Shankar Paul.
The fire broke out from leaking gas line around 3:30am on Saturday in an apartment located at a 3-storey building’s ground floor in Bapari Para area of Uttarkhan,” said Fire Service official Md Shafiqul Islam.
"Most of the victims worked as garment workers," added Islam.
