Rajib who lost an arm in Dhaka bus accident dies

Rajib HossainRajib Hossain, who had lost an arm in a race between buses in Dhaka, has died at the early hours of Tuesday.
“Doctors informed us at 12:40am that he was no more,” his aunt Jahanara Begum told Bangla Tribune.
On Apr 3, the Titumir College student’s lost his right arm due to reckless driving of two buses. His arm was crushed between the buses and severed above the elbow.
Rajib was on his way to college from his Jatrabari home when the accident took place at the capital’s Karwan Bazar.
On Apr 3, the Titumir College student’s lost his right arm due to reckless driving of two buses.Police said the 22-year-old was standing at the entrance of a crowded BRTC-operated double-decker bus, which was standing at the traffic signal near the fountain at the intersection. When a Swajan Paribahan-operated bus tried to make its way through, his arm was caught between the buses.
The 22-year-old was rushed to Panthapath’s Samorita Hospital and was transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital the next day.
On Apr 10, he was put on life support when he began having breathing difficulty at the hospital’s intensive care unit 10. He also appeared less ‘conscious’ of his surroundings than he was before.
Dr Shamsuzzaman, the chief of the medical board formed for his care, said at the time, “This happens in the case of a head injury.”
Besides losing his right arm from the elbow, Rajib had broken bones in the front and back of the head in the accident.
Rajib, who lost his both parents a few years ago, is survived by two school-going younger brothers.
