Fire leaves eight injured in the capital

Eight people including a child and four women sustained severe burn injuries after a fire broke out from a gas line leakage.

The incident was reported around 3:30am on Saturday from the capital’s Uttara area.

The injured have been identified as Abdullah, Anju, Urni, Afroza, Purnima, Azizul, Sagar and Dabliu.

Most of them are garment workers, Senior Station Officer of Fire Service Md Shafiqul Islam told Bangla Tribune.

He also said that the fire reportedly broke out from a leakage in the gas line.

Fire-fighters rushed to the scene and extinguished the fire before rescuing eight people who suffered various degrees of burn injuries, added the Fire Service official.

The injured are being treated at the Burn Unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), its Police unit in-charge Bachchu Mia said before adding that six among the injured are in critical condition.
