HC sets Oct 14 to hear State on Khaleda's bail in Cumilla arson

Khaleda Zia (File Photo)The High Court has set Oct 14 (Sunday) the date for hearing in jailed BNP chief Khaleda Zia’s bail petition in Cumilla arson case.
A HC bench of Justice AKM Asaduzzaman and Justice SM Mozibur Rahman fixed the date on Wednesday (Oct 3) after additional deputy attorney general Bashir Ahmed sought a time extension.
The BNP Chairperson has been accused of ordering the firebombing of a bus in Cumilla during a countrywide blockade of roads, railway and waterways in 2015.
The attack left eight people dead and another 22 injured.
Police have pressed charges against the former prime minister and 69 others.
Khaleda has been incarcerated in the old jailhouse on Nazimuddin Road since Feb 8 after a special court sentenced her to five years in prison for Zia orphanage trust corruption case.
