The Food Directorate has suspended 28 of its staffers for their attempts to be promoted as office assistant cum computer typist from peon by providing forged certificates on computer training.
The move came on Monday after the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) raid upon receiving specific complaints, said ACC spokesperson Deputy Director Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya.
ACC Assistant Director Md Gulshan Anwar Pradhan and Deputy Assistant Director Md Saiduzzaman conducted the raid, when they went through documents of 38 Food Directorate staffers, he said.
Anomalies were found on official documents of 28 peons, who submitted false computer literacy certificates to the authority.
Based on the findings, the 28 staffers were suspended and a three-member probe body was formed headed by Md Mahmud Hassan, additional director of the food directorate, the ACC said.
The departmental promotional meeting which was scheduled for Tuesday (Oct 9) has been also postponed.
The ACC has recommended the Food Directorate to set up a monitoring unit in the office to destroy the backbone of the syndicated corruption in its activities.
