Students’ platform, Sadharan Chhatra Adhikar Sangrakkhan Parishad, has made a three-point demand to Government on Sunday: withdrawal of cases filed over quota reformists, setting up trial of those who attacked quota reformists and, reforming the prevailing quota system according to five-point demand, which was raised before.
“From the beginning, we demanded quota reform on the basis of our five-point demand and did not support abolishing the quota system in government services,” said Hasan Al Mamun, convener of Bangladesh Sadharan Chhatra Adhikar Sangrakkhan Parishad on Sunday at 11am in front of central library area of Dhaka University.
The government has to take responsibility for the consequences, resulting from quota cancellation, Al Mamun added.
“There cannot be any special appointment to government jobs; also, rational reforms need to be carried out in third and fourth class quotas.”
While talking to the media, students’ platform joint convener, Nurul Huq Nuru, said: “our movement is against all kinds of discrimination.”
In education, special facilities are essential for minority, physically challenged and freedom fighters’ families, he added.
