Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) is set to launch night-shift office on an experimental basis from Thursday (Oct 4) night in order to ease traffic congestion and make official activities more efficient.
DSCC Secretary Md Shahabuddin Khan told Bangla Tribune that Mayor Sayeed Khokon will inaugurate the night-shift office at around 11pm.
Officials of various departments of DSCC will also be on duty tonight he said.
“The idea of night shifts is a very feasible one. A lot of organizations follow this system in Seoul. As they utilize the whole time traffic congestion is considerably less there,” the mayor told the media earlier on Sept 10.
He said that if the government sees fit and ensures the payment and safety of workers, launching the night shift will be extremely productive given that nowadays Dhaka remains active well into the late hours.
DSCC sources have confirmed that the mayor will monitor overall activities including cleanliness of the Nagar Bhaban to make the mission a success.
