Journalists and other employees of newspapers and news agencies will receive a 45 percent dearness allowance.
In a circular issued on Tuesday (Sept 11), the information ministry said the allowance will be effective retrospectively from Mar 1.
The announcement was made nearly seven and half months after the ninth wage board was formed.
Newspaper and news agency employees will get 40 percent of their monthly basic salary as interim dearness allowance, ahead of the announcement of a new basic wage structure.
The government on Jan 29 constituted the Ninth Wage Board headed by retired Supreme Court judge Md Nizamul Haque to review the existing structure and suggest enhanced wages and benefits for journalists and employees of the newspaper industry.
In September 2013, the government published the gazette notification for the Eighth Wage Board hiking the pay by 75 percent.
