A court in Dhaka has sent Mozammel Hoque Chowdhury, secretary general of passengers' rights body Bangladesh Jatri Kalyan Samity to jail after turning down his bail petition as well as police’s plea seeking remand on charges of extortion.
Metropolitan Magistrate Golam Nabi passed the order police produced him court on Saturday with a fresh five-day remand plea, while defense counsel Barrister Jyotirmoy Barua moved a bail petition.
