Amid a rise in number of reported cases of Dengue fever, Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sayeed Khokon says there’s no reason to panic over it.
“Last year, we successfully tackled the Chikungunya situation. The number of dengue patients this year is relatively higher, but it’s not alarming and the situation is under control,” he said on Monday (Sept 3).
Speaking at the launch of a drive to eradicate Aedes mosquito larvae to prevent dengue outbreak, the Dhaka South mayor said “We have destroyed mosquito larvae at 15,000 households in the first phase.”
“We have taken a crash programme for 17,000 households in Dhanmondi and Kalabagan in the second phase,” he said.
On Monday, Khokon launched the third phase of the crash programme at 57 wards of the Dhaka South city corporation.
