High court has fixed Tuesday, 4 September, for the bail hearing of photographer Shahidul Alam, who is behind bars under the ICT law.
Based on the time request by the state, a bench comprising justices, Md. Ruhul Kuddus and Khondokar Diliruzzaman fixed the bail hearing date. At court, Alam was represented by barrister Sara Hossain while state was by deputy attorney general Mahiuddin Dewan.
Sara Hossain told the media: “I asked for an early hearing but deputy attorney general had informed the court that attorney general wanted to be present at the hearing and therefore time was requested till next Tuesday.”
After photographer Shahidul Alam gave an interview to an international media, the police arrested him in a case lodged under the ICT act.
For proper investigation of the case, investigating officer, inspector of DB, Arman Ali requested a ten day remand while barrister Sara Hossain and Jyotirmoy Barua appealed for the revocation of the remand and granting of bail.
After hearing from both parties, the judge ordered a seven day remand. Later, on 18 August, lawyers on behalf of Alam appealed for bail.
