Fewer public transport vehicles were seen plying in the city as transport owners’ bodies began checking the documents of the public transport.
Leaders of the Associations started working on their documentation on Thursday morning at the city’s bus terminals including Syaedbad and Mohakhali.
“Representatives of the Owners’ Associations (formally) began checking papers etc on Mohakhali bus terminal and Sayedabad and Gulistan in the noon,” Enayet Ullah Khan, general secretary of Dhaka Transport Owners Association, told Bangla Tribune.On spot visits, a team, led by Syaedbad Inter-district Bus Owners Association treasures Raju Ahmed was seen checking the documents of each bus before it left the Syaedbad bus terminal around 12 noon.
“We have been checking papers of the buses since the morning. So far, documents of 400 buses have been scrutinized till 2:20pm.”
Nearly 40 vehicles were found with non-updated papers, according to the terminal sources.
Ahmed, however, said documents of the majority of vehicles were in order.“Vehicles are kept grounded if their papers are found not okay,” he said.
