Health Minister Zahid Maleque says he had tested negative for the novel coronavirus and was maintaining social distance like everyone else.
His remarks came during an Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) online media call on Sunday (Mar 29).
Evading media queries on a health ministry official testing positive, he said, "The health ministry is pretty big and many people visit. It's possible that someoene amongst them may be infected."
The minister said that around 300,000 personal protective equipment (PPE) have been distributed to various hospitals across the country and some 500,000 more PPEs have been ordered from abroad, which arrive by the month of April.
He added that the country now has 45,000 Covid-19 testing kits in stock while more will be imported soon.
