The government is planning to take the overhead electricity cables and sub-stations underground in different districts across Bangladesh over the next five years.
The state minister made the statement while addressing a contract signing ceremony at Bidyut Bhaban in Dhaka on Wednesday (Feb 5).
“As part of the plan, Dhaka, Chittagong, Sylhet, Comilla and their neighbourhoods will be primarily brought under the underground electricity network,” he said.
Gradually, the coverage will be expanded towards Khulna, Barishal, Faridpur, Rajshahi and Rangpur districts, Nasrul added.
