Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have started patrolling in Dhaka city ahead of the city corporation elections, slated for Saturday (Feb 1).
The paratroopers began patrolling on Dhaka streets at 6am on Thursday (Jan 30), BGB headquarters spokesperson Lt Col Mohiuddin told Bangla Tribune.
According to him, as many as 65 platoons of BGB personnel -- 27 in Dhaka North City Corporations and 38 in Dhaka South City Corporation -- have been deployed on polls duty with another 10 platoons are kept standby.
They will continue to patrol the city till Feb 2, the BGB official said.
