All spans of the Padma Bridge will be installed by July this year, said Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Qauder.
His remarks during the question-answer session in the Parliament on Tuesday (Jan 28).
According to the minister, as of December last year the overall progress of the bridge is 76.5 percent. The progress for the main bridge is 85.5 percent while river training is 66 percent complete.
He added that the bridge is likely to be open to public by June 2021.
The budget for the entire is project contracted to China Railway Major Bridge Engineering Group Company Ltd is over Tk 300 billion.
According to experts, once in operation, the 6.15km long bridge will connect 21 southern districts with the capital and boost the country's GDP by 1.2 percent.
