His remarks came during the question-answer session at the Parliament on Sunday (Jan 26).
He said that Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) is alert to tackle any kind of illegal activity at the border.
He added that Bangladesh views India’s Citizen Amendment Bill as the country’s internal matter but Dhaka was still closely monitoring the situation.
Saying that the National Register of Citizens (NRC) is also India’s internal matter, he added, “India’s top level has assured Bangladesh that the NRC issue will not have any unwanted effect.”
In response to a question from BNP lawmaker Rumeen Farhana, the home minister said that often the four regional organisations of minorities in the hill tracts clash over internal conflicts which leads to kidnappings and killings.
He added that the government has a strict stance to maintain peace there.
