Former State Minister for Public Administration Ismat Ara Sadique has passed away at 78.

The Awami League lawmaker from Jashore-6 breathed her last at a Dhaka hospital on Tuesday (Jan 21).




Born in 1942 at Jashore’s Keshabpur upazila, Ismat Ara's younger brother Mamdudur Rahman Choudhury is a former Jatiya Party minister.

She was married to Awami League politician late ASHK Sadek who served as education minister in 1996 Sheikh Hasina administration.

President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of the former state minister.

In separate condolence messages, they prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
