REUTERS/FILE PHOTOThe government is concerned about Bangladeshis being killed in borders, says Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen.
“We will inform India of the matter,” he said while briefing the media about the prime minister’s visit to Abu Dhabi on Sunday (Jan 12).
“We don’t want anyone to die at the borders. They [India] said that they don’t want it either. But unfortunately, it’s happening,” he said.
He added Bangladesh wants India to make good on its stance regarding border killings.
Responding to queries on Indian media reports that ties between the neighbouring countries are cold, he said, “The media saying relations are cold when it’s extremely warm. The media is the one finding problems.”
Momen said that too much of an issue was made out of state minister Md Shahriar Alam not attending the multilateral Riasina Dialogue in Delhi.
“He didn’t say he would go. And since we are holding an envoy conference, our state minister should be there,” he said.
On reports that Bangladesh was not giving visas to Kashmiri students, he said, “It’s an absolute lie.”
