Parliament to go into session Thursday

Parliament Session (File Photo)The first session in 2020 of the 11th Parliament will begin at 4pm on Thursday (Jan 9).
President Abdul Hamid summoned the session, also the sixth sitting of the House, on Dec 24 exercising the power bestowed upon him as per Clause (1) of Article 72 of the Constitution.
Before the beginning of the session, the Advisory Committee of Parliament will sit to fix the session duration and its businesses.
According to parliament sources, President Hamid will read out a speech, which has been ratified by the cabinet, at 6:15 pm on Thursday. After his speech, the House will be adjourned for the day.
As many as seven bills are waiting to be tabled on the sixth session.
A special session will be called in March on the occasion of birth centenary celebration of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman after this winter session.
For the special session, Parliament will prorogue within February.
The last session of the parliament began on Nov 7 which ended on Nov 14.
