Kamal awarded Finance Minister of the Year

PID/File PhotoFinance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal has been named as the ‘Finance Minister of the Year 2020’ by the international financial affairs publication The Banker.
The magazine conferred Kamal the 'Finance Minister of the Year for Asia-Pacific and Global Award 2020', says a ministry statement on Thursday (Dec 1).
According to the magazine, Kamal took on the role of Bangladesh’s finance minister in January 2019 with the aim of building up the country’s economy by opening it up to foreign investment,
The Banker, a publication of the UK-based globally renowned ‘The Financial Times Group’, has been published since 1926, which is known as the world’s banking sector intelligence. It has been giving the ‘Finance Minister of the Year’ award since 2004.
Born in Cumilla on Jun 15, 1947, Kamal completed his graduation on Financial Management in 1967 from the University of Dhaka before becoming a Chartered Accountant in 1970. He secured the first position in the Chartered Accountancy examination in the-then united Pakistan.
Kamal got involved in politics in his student life and later become elected as a Member Of Parliament for four times on Awami League ticket. He also served as planning minister in 2014.
Kamal also served as the chief of Bangladesh Cricket Board, Asian Cricket Council and International Cricket Council.
