VIPs will have to follow airport security rules: PM

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was addressing an event after opening the construction of Dhaka airport`s third terminal on Saturday (Dec 28). Focus BanglaPrime Minister Sheikh Hasina has urged air travellers, including VIPs, to follow existing security rules and regulations of the airports of the country, issuing a strong warning that errant passengers will be barred from boarding aircraft in future for violating the laws.

“We’ve given special attention to the security of our airports … all passengers will have to accept the existing international security rules and regulations (of the airports).

“The ministers, parliament members, chiefs of the armed forces and other senior officials are present here. We’ve to ensure security of the airports in the way it is maintained in airports abroad,” she said on Saturday (Dec 28) while opening the construction of Dhaka airport's third terminal.

The prime minister said everyone will have to follow the security rules and regulations of the airports and no one can violate it. “If anyone tries to breach it, he or she will be prevented from boarding the plane in future … I’ll do it, and everyone will have to keep this in mind,” she said.

Hasina inaugurated the much-awaited construction work of Taka 213 billion ‘Third Terminal’ of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in the capital this morning.

At the same event, she also commissioned Bangladesh Biman’s two new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft christened ‘Sonar Tori’ and ‘Achin Pakhi’ as well as a new mobile app of the national flag carrier.
