Bangladeshis living in India will be brought back if they want to return home, says Road Transport Minister Obaidul Quader.
His remarks come two days after Indian state of Assam's Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal vowed that "not a single person of Bangladesh will get to enter Assam through Citizenship Amendment Act."
Speaking to the media at his offices in Dhaka, on Monday (Dec 23), Quader said minorities were persecuted during the BNP-Jamaat term in 2001 which was more "barbaric" than atrocities during 1971 Liberation War.
"Many [members of the minority communities] fled the country at that time [during BNP-Jamaat regime] to save their lives," Quader said before adding that now BNP is trying to deny the facts.
