Jatiya Party (JP) Secretary General Mashiur Rahaman Ranga have to apologise to the nation for calling Noor Hossain a 'drug-addict', says the slain pro-democracy youth protester's family.
During a sit-in protest in Dhaka on Monday (Nov 11), Hossain's mother Mariam Bibi also urged the government to initiate actions against the senior JP leader.
“Noor Hossain sacrificed himself for the country and its people. People should stand against that man, who said my son was a drug addict.
“I am ready to sue Ranga [for the defamatory remarks],” she added.
Ali Hossain, the brother of Noor, said, “He [Ranga] described Noor as a drug addict for protesting against an autocratic regime. He has humiliated all martyrs of the pro-democracy movement. Ranga should be stripped of his parliament membeship.”
The family of Noor said they would continue sit-in protest until Rangpur-1 lawmaker Ranga apologised to nation.
