Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday said Bangladesh no longer needs to beg or seek assistance.
She made the comment at the inaugural session of the three-day DC Conference that kicked off at the Prime Minister’s Office in the morning.
“The country is progressing as the Awami League government has completed its two terms,” she said.
“Lower inflation and high growth will benefit the poorer section of the society,” she added.
The inaugural session was attended by ministers, advisers to the prime minister and secretaries of different ministries.
Like every year, the Cabinet Division has organised the programme.
Meanwhile, the Cabinet Division has received 347 proposals and recommendations sent by the deputy commissioners (DC) of 64 districts for placing at the annual DCs’ Conference.
The DCs may get instructions on keeping field administrations dynamic, speeding up the government’s development activities and policy implementation at grass-root level.
The DCs, however, have put forward their proposals for the government’s consideration. It includes a wide range of issues, including scrapping the requirement of intelligence agencies’ report over promoting public servants.
They also sought decisions on quick disposal of drug cases, fine on late renewal of trade license, policy on tuition fees at private sector educational institutions.
