Beijing to help Dhaka with Tk 257m for flood management

China will be funding nearly Tk 257 million of a Tk 260 million project for the flood management in Bangladesh.
The country officially handed over a plan on flood management to Dhaka after carrying out researches in the Ganga and Brahmaputra-Jamuna basins.
Chinese envoy to Bangladesh Li Jiming handed over the plan to the water resources ministry on Wednesday (Nov 6).
State Minister for Water Resources Zaheed Farooque said that the cooperation will strengthen the bilateral ties between the two countries.
The plan outlines details on how to manage the flood at rivers Jamuna, Ganga and Padma as well as a few tributaries of Brahmaputra-Jamuna.
