The ongoing conflict at Jahangirnagar University is under Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s radar, says senior Cabinet member Obaidul Quader.
“The head of the government is very alert over the matter. She will take steps after analyzing the situation,” he told the media on Tuesday (Nov 5).
He added that everything related to the conflict is in the prime minister’s knowledge.
Earlier on Tuesday (Nov 5), JU authorities announced the indefinite shut-down of Jahangirnagar University following a clash between protesters and Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activists.
A group of students and teachers had been demanding the resignation of vice-chancellor Farzana Islam who has been accused of being involved in corruption.
They had been staging demonstrations around her residence on campus when a group of the ruling party’s student wing activists attacked them injuring 25, including eight teachers.
